The Gymkhana Club, Miri

As civil servants back in the 90s, we were eligible for membership at the Gymkhana Club in Miri -- a perk that proved especially useful at the end of the month. We could simply sign off our lunch bills and settle the payment later. They even let us rent VCDs. Haha.

Gymkhana clubs are private social and sports clubs that originated during the British colonial period, especially in countries like India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.

Some that are still standing include the Royal Selangor Club (Malaysia), Bombay Gymkhana (India), Singapore Cricket Club and Miri Gymkhana Club (Malaysia).
